So, my first experience at Clementine's was great and I was just DYING to go back. But my second time (mid-June 2013) just really pissed me off. I went during a totally off time of the day, 3 in the afternoon, so they weren't busy at all. I asked to be seated on the deck and I was. There was a waitress working the deck, because she kept coming out and taking orders from everyone around me and bringing food to everyone around me. I tried flagging her down, tried to make eye contact, but she successfully ignored my presence for 40 MINUTES!!!!! On a hot summer day! Not even so much as a glass of water! I literally had to get up and leave in order to go get myself some water somewhere else before I died of dehydration. I've never been so angry. So, my previous review was 4 stars, and I'm dropping it down to just two. I don't understand....my first experience here was SO GOOD, but this last experience is just unconscionable!!

This is a cute little restaurant tucked back by the docks in somewhere MI. We spent the day canoeing and wanted some seafood. This was close to the canoe rental place and the food was pretty delish. We ordered a sampling of dishes to share and I would have to say my absolute favorite was the local fish. It tasted fresh and the herb crust was fantastic. If I am ever in this area again, I would definitely go again. Pricing was not bad for what they offered. It seemed to be about $10 a plate for lunch.

We went, we saw, we were disappointed. We came here three years ago during vacation and loved it. I am not sure what has happened since then but we were very disappointed.Service was very slow and they were not busy. We waited 40-55 minutes for our food. I ordered the Roscoe ribeye mid-well and received it almost well done. If I wouldn't have waited so long it would have went back. The onion rings were good but nothing I haven't had before. Not sure what all the fuss is about. The best part was the beer!! In all we will not be going back in future vacations... Bye bye Clementine's.

Clementine's in St. Joseph is on a downward spiral. I have eaten here over 30 times and it is becoming more apparent with every visit. My most recent visit will be my last. On my last visit the food was mediocre, the service was horrific, and, the worst part, the management did not care! After being seated my party waited 20 minutes for a waitress to stop by. When our waitress finally stopped by we were ready to order our drinks, appetizer, and entrees. We had no idea what what her name was, or what the specials were, because we we're told "sorry I'm behind what to you want." We were dumbfounded. What just happened? She took our order and disappeared. Twenty minutes later our drinks arrived. 40 minutes is long time to wait for a water! After another 20 our appetizer came out. An hour for an appetizer! The tables around us that sat down 5 minutes after us were already mid-way through their entrees; they had a different waitress. Our waitress forgot to bring us plates for the appetizer; so she brought them with the entrees! The food had obviously been sitting under a lamp for quite a while. It also was an unwelcome surprise that the waitress picked our side options for us. The steak was charred to the resemblance of charcoal. We couldn't get a knife through a burger. Really? We paid for this? The infuriating part was that the manager knew about the situation and did not care. She did not apologize. She was directing the other wait staff to take over our waitresses tables; she knew a disasterous service was ensuing. All the tables around us were in the same situation. A quality, customer-oriented, manager would have puller the server and comped the meals. This manager did not care. The manager had a line waiting outside to be seated but was letting seated customers wait 40 minutes for drinks! When a business doesn't care about their customers, they leave. We will not be back.

We were there last Thursday for dinner with a party for 10. It was pretty busy, so we expected a wait, but they were able to seat us with very little wait. The service was above average and the food was good. Everyone was satisfied with our food, even our 6 fussy tween/teens. We had many special requests from our party, and they were all handled well.

Had heard so much about Clementines 1 and Too that we had to stop. Service was excellent, place was clean and friendly. I will start off by saying I am not a particular fan of fish, but I had the shrimp/fried perch special. IT was good, but not great. WIfe's gumbo platter was great. Onion rings were served to neighbors table and they looked FANTASTIC. It was okay in my book, but nothing to write home about.

The rating is too low for this place. I'm glad we gave it a shot. This was overall the most family-friendly restaurant we ate at while in St. Joseph. When I saw the onion rings coming out, I had to try some, and they did not disappoint. My chicken dish was decent, and a large portion with all the sides. My wife got some sort o turkey sandwich on a croissant and that was the clear winner. The turkey was delectable, thanksgiving style, and piled high. We sat outside, and I'd call it more of a parking lot view than a river view, but it was pleasant nonetheless, and the kids liked watching people take their boats out. The head-scratcher here is the inside decor. When you pull up, looks like a Bob Evans-style family home-cooking type place, and the menu matches, but the decor inside is all super modern and elegant. Our waiter was excellent - friendly and attentive, even though he was clearly dealing with a huge table nearby. Tip: We went early (5:15) and got in immediately. By the time we left, there was quite a lot of folks waiting. Overall, definitely recommended, especially for families.

We had dinner here two days in a row! That should tell you how we feel about this place, the restaurant is clean the service is outstanding and the food is delicious. I had the sirloin and was very impressed with the quality of the cut, so tender and the butter sauce that goes over it adds a lot of flavor to the dish. I'd go back anyday!

Very pleased with the ability to pan sear the walleye fish and steam the broccoli to our preference. The coleslaw was delicious ( i wanted the recipe). Food was delicious! No corkage available.

Wait staff was quick and friendly, pan fried walleye very good, baked potato cooked just right, onion rings were good, atmosphere was inviting and had nice view of the harbor. It was all good!!

It's been a few years since I've visited this location, however because if great previous visits in earlier years decided this would be the perfect choice to take my wheelchair bound father. Clementines was a favorite dining place for he and my mother who has since passed, so I thought we'd enjoy reminiscing as well. The staff were very accommodating when I asked for a table for 4 that was out of way...meaning kitchen traffic as well as guests. We were seated at the last table in the back which allowed us a bit more room and a smidge of privacy. My 13 yr old nephew accompanied us too which gave a nice cross section of ages at the table. Pops ordered the Lake perch with baked potatoe which also came with cole slaw and garlic bread. I ordered the salmon dinner which came with steamed broccoli, wild rice along with garlic bread too. Hubs got the burger...who knows why. He said it was good and ate it all. Nephew ordered burger as well with curly fries. Food came out in a reasonable time and was temp hot when served. Our server was friendly, and attentive. Prices are very reasonable for the location and service. I'm glad we chose to stop in. It was a nice and pleasant Sunday lunch.

The food is good but the service has really declined... The last time my family went there for dinner. The bus kids were staking dishes on their station area and shot dressing into our food and on the table... It was really gross...Nobody came over to help or clean it up. We had to ask a different waitress to get a manager. Nobody seemed to care that the clean up from another table was in our food...

Good service and great food. Cream of Broccoli soup was great. I had perch , good buttery flavored crust. Hubby had walleye, also good! Will definitely go back.

I regularly snarf down Clementine Too's food, though I usually have takeaway (I'm antisocial and hide in my cave, but I still need to eat). As to apps, the onion rings are always a winner. The french onion soup is good, if a bit greasy. I always get the Gunslinger steak, medium rare. Normally when you order takeaway from a restaurant, they give you a subpar cut of meat, since you won't be there to complain/not tip. Clementine's steaks, takeaway or not, are always perfectly cooked. It's a guilty pleasure on a Friday night, with a vodka tonic while watching trash television at home in the dark.

I first visited this establishment on a Sunday. Atmosphere is nice and I did enjoy the décor. Our group started with the onion rings and, in the words of Dick Enberg, "Oh MY!" Light, flavorful and not too greasy, which truly continued to boost my opinion about this place. I decided to go with the Berkshire burger and seasoned curly fries. I patiently waited with anxious verve. Then, 35 min., 3 iced teas and one bathroom break later, my dish decided to come out of the kitchen and bless me with its presence. I wish I would have met Saruman an hour earlier so he could have saved me from this disappointment. The pepper jack cheese: Looked as if it was taken off of a table where it sat under the sun for the better part of a spring day. The Bacon: Who am I kidding, no cook or chef is so terrible as to ruin this beauty of a contribution with which swine has blessed us (If there is some place out there that HAS found a way to ruin bacon, tear it down). The Burger: Overcooked, dry as the Sahara, and as bad as the McConaughey movie (which I felt was slightly saved by Steve Zahn, but he was not available for this bomb). Curly fries: They were reasonably decent and seemed to be the freshest cooked item on my plate. I attempted to resurrect any bit of tasty juiciness by pouring some au jus from another diner in our group, but to no avail. This burger ceased to exist in deliciousness once the cook laid his hands upon it. It could only lay there, that was its only defense. Normally, I would have griped and complained, but since the outing was being paid for by another in our party, I felt to say something about it then and there would be a bad cheek. I know I will be returning because a couple in our Sunday lunch group really likes the place, so I will give it another chance or two. I am hoping that this experience was a fluke occurrence and my next meal will smack me senseless with a redemptive, tasteful culinary effort.

It was great to be seated and served so quickly on the busy art fair Saturday. The waitress did a great job and the Thai Chicken Linguine had a good blend of spices and peanut flavor. I wish I could cook my broccoli to the color and tenderness that they did.

You get what you pay for at this location--the food is inexpensive, therefore the quality is also "average," although the onion rings are exceptional. The low star rating is for the service. I called in about 25 minutes before our planned get together to let them know that we'd have a party if 14 arriving, and I was advised that they would do nothing in advance to accommodate us unless someone was onsite from our location. After a lot of back and forth, I told the employee that I was headed out the door and would be there in a few minutes, but he still didn't put our name down or try to arrange tables -- I always explained to him that I am 6 months pregnant and if he could be more helpful that it would be appreciated. I even asked to speak to a manager and received no acknowledgement on that point--I was speaking with "Tom". I have no idea what his position is, but he was very unaccommodating and unhelpful. I arrived at the restaurant within 5 mins (I was staying downtown already), put my name in, and then proceeded to wait for an hour before our table was ready. EVERY customer who came after us was seated as we all stood around waiting and waiting. I can't believe it took 1.5 hours to get service (including the time in advance that I called them) With a big group coming in, you'd think they'd try harder to get our business. As an SJ native, I know the small businesses here need customers, so I'm shocked that they wouldn't do better to provide good service. The next time I'm home and arrange a big dinner, Clementines won't be getting our business, and they clearly don't want it anyway.

This place has a nice view. That's about it. They have a very pleasant staff and that's the highlight. The menu offers a wide variety, but nothing seems to be great. It's a very average restaurant with average food being served.

We absolutely love Clementine's in South Haven and we were traveling to the Chicago area for Easter, so we thought why not stop! We actually just ordered take-out since we had our pup with us, but it was still great. The onion rings were fantastic as always. My husband had the perch and I had the fried shrimp - you really can't go wrong with anything you order here!

    (5)
  • Vanni T.

The deep fried mushrooms were great. Although my prime rib was overcooked, it was still tender, and our waitress Amber was knowledgeable about the beers, and super friendly. The food I'd give 3 - 3.5 stars, the service was a 5. Clementine's is a solid place if you're hungry and looking for hefty portions.

  • Jerry K.

Super service which brings the rating up to 3. Oh My Darling sandwich was awful. Tasteless shrimp and FAKE crabmeat on a lukewarm untoasted piece of bread. Perch was OK and the ribs were tender, meaty with a good sauce. Potato pancakes were deep fried and dry. Best part of the lunch was the onion rings. Ordered as an appetizer which made up for the parts of the meal we didn't want to finish.

  • Maham K.

The best thing about this place besides the view from the window booths is the onion ring tower. This is the first place the doesn't cheap out on giving you a butt load of onion rings. The entrees are super generous as well. Although this place is almost always busy the food comes out pretty quickly and the waiters are pretty attentive.

it isn't right in the heart of downtown, so we were seated quickly on. Friday night. The atmosphere and service was great, but I was disappointed with the perch. It wasn't crisp, and was much too greasy. Everyone else enjoyed their meals though. I'd go back. My son's perch sandwich wasn't soggy, so I think it was a fluke.

Kids meals all tasted like fish. My kids wouldn't even eat the chicken strips or mini corn dogs. Gunslinger was a decent steak for the price. Service was great.

This is our second time at Clementines and both times we had very similar experiences. Though they were busy we were able to get a table right away (5pm on a Sunday). From there things went downhill. The restaurant was crowded and the servers obviously had way too many tables. Though our server was friendly, it's impossible to give great service when you're understaffed and have too many guests to tend to. We waited a half an hour for our onion rings appetizer, and though it was really tasty, we were disappointed to have to wait so long. Our food came about 20 minutes after our appetizer. The perch was yummy and fresh, but the side items were not scratch made and not great. My three children ordered off the kids menu, and they received large portions of food they enjoyed. We again waited for our server to get us our to go boxes and bill. I am surprised at how busy the restaurant always is with just ok food and understaffed service. Overall I give 2.5 stars.

My wife and I ate here at 1:30 pm on Thursday in late August. It was just after the luncheon rush and about half the tables were in use. My wife ordered the shrimp and crab open face sandwich and I had the fried perch sandwich. Both of our sandwiches were very good and arrived after only about a ten minute wait. After our sandwiches were served, our waitress virtually disappeared until she brought the check. We must have waited over 15 minutes after finishing our meal to get the check. In the meanwhile we were hoping to get coffee refills, which never happened. If the restaurant was busy, we could understand the poor service, but that was not the situation. So overall, the food was very good and the service poor.

I enjoyed an early dinner there for the second time in one week. I live in South Bend, yet often visit the St. Joe area to go to the beach, an art festival, or an antique show. Clementine's is the place to go for good meal. The onion rings are "a must" order and the menu has something for everyone in our group from youngster to adult. The service is good, too.

    (4)
  • Matt S.

Great size and the staff very friendly. I ordered the signature "Oh my Darling" sandwich. It's crab and shrimp on a half French roll with tomatoes. While it was very edible it lacked is simple flavor. Perhaps if the scampi'ed the shrimp with some garlic butter. And why not serve a small order of your famous onion rings as a side. People might end up ordering them more often once they have tried them. Beer selection was nice but could be colder for sure. All in all it was ok.

Our typical stop when I'm with my mother in St. Joe. She loves the perch here and as do I. Like most of the reviewers below me, the service seems to be the weak-link to this well known restaurant. This is a place that draws you in on a summer's day....sitting by the marina outside under the umbrella and watching the boats go by. This place gets very busy as well, so be sure to plan accordingly for a decent wait time.

  • Carey C.

The service was good, but the food was not. I ate here with a coworker for my birthday in November 2014. I had their steak special the night I was there and everything on my place was nearly inedible. The steak had so much fat on it, it was hard to find a bite of meat, and the sauce on the vegetables was crazy salty. I tried to save my steak by putting it in a slow cooker when I got home to melt off the fat and stew the meat - still gross.

We went to Clementines during the Krasl Art Fair on Saturday, July 11. Jessika was our server and was kind, efficient and answered all our questions. The burgers, shrimp and crab sandwich, perch dinners were all fantastic, so delicious! We also had the Michigan apple ale which was equally good. We will be back and will recommend to all our friends.

Best restaurant to have a nice sit down meal with your family. Something for everyone. My husband had steak. And I had all you can eat fried shrimp. Great drinks as well. Warm atmosphere. Will definitely be back

Dined here twice in a few days of a holiday away from CAlifornia enroute to detroit. Bar food but decent salads and Perch. This neck of the woods, it's all about the perch. Walleye was great too. Our server was juggling her duties masterfully but could have used fewer tables or another set of hands.

    (4)
  • Tom K.

Great onion rings, for starters. However my wife had a perch sandwich that salt-cured her from the inside out. I had a bite and thought it was pretty salty, but I guess it really built up for her over the course of the sandwich. Our daughter had a kids' menu item -- corn dogs and curly fries, blech -- and thought it was only okay. I could have told her that, but one must let one's child spread her wings and learn things for herself. I, on the other hand, had a caesar salad and French onion soup, both of which were good. The salad was just a typical caesar, but was the smaller of the two options and still good-sized. The soup was pretty tasty -- not too salty (surprisingly, given the sandwich) and good winey flavor. In contrast to other reviews, we had great service. Fast, pleasant, efficient. And the check came quickly so we could get on to the business of blowing vacation money in this pretty little town.

Took my parents here for dinner and had horrible service. It took over a half hour for our food to come out, and this was after I finally asked the server where our food was. After I asked it magically appeared, imagine that!....but It was obvious that it had sat under a heat lamp for a good 20 minutes (to no one's surprise). Quality of the food is, IMO, that of a truck stop. No one's meals at our table were remarkable (seafood sandwich, salad, steak and a pasta dish). Iced tea refills were way watered down. I grew up in the area so I'm familiar with Clem's and quite frankly I've never really been too impressed. The onion rings are good, and I remember the french dip being decent. But overall the food is just mediocre and overpriced. And crappy, crappy service... Sad thing is you don't really have too many other choices in this area so good luck in your dining quest while visiting St Joe.

I must be going to a different restaurant than all the other reviewers. I tried to like Clementines. I wanted to like it. The only saving grace is the location - being able to look out over the marina is great and the outdoor dining is good on a nice day. The onion rings are good (the homemade ranch that comes with is delicious) but the food in general is just not that great. It does not taste fresh; clearly prepared from a box or a can (for the most part). I have been to Clementine's three times now and each time I was hoping for different results. If you are searching for great, local, fresh food...I'd look elsewhere. If you want to find a busy spot, with good ambience and nice servers, where it's easy to park- this might be enough for you.

We went for dinner on a recommendation. Had walleye and the perch. The overall experience was middle of the road. The place had it hay day years ago. All I can say is the Bloody Mary's were excellent, they even have a strip of crisp bacon as the stirrer. 5 stars for the Bloody.

If your up for local ambiance, excellent service and great food, give it a shot. I was impressed and glad I tried this gem with the recommendation of a friend. The majority of menu items are unique and original. I had the Calamity Jane sandwich. Awesome. So was the service. Of course, I was equally impressed with their beer selection! Local brews and others on tap. Back to food, I hear the seafood sandwich is also a popular choice with crab, shrimp and the likes on some type of yummy bread all topped with a cheesy goodness.

Our favorite restaurant in the St. Joseph area. We have family in this area and travel here several times per year. Each time we look forward to having one, or more, meals at Clementine,s. The perch, haymaker, onion rings, etc. are all excellent. They also offer a good selection of beer and wines. Although this restaurant can be very busy, and sometimes very loud, it is well worth it just to experience the fine food.

Clementines Too is a true 3/5 stars (when the server isn't on their first week.) The food is good, not excellent, not poor. I find that 60% of their menu has some sort of cheese / cream sauce that is smothered on the food. But, maybe that's what the local residents want. Just recently, they added a "small plates" menu that is actually a really smart idea... The salmon dish is tasty and fresh. Come here if you have 45minutes to spend ordering, eating, and paying your bill. Don't count on getting in during the summer on a weekend without at least a 40 minute wait.

Slow slow slow service. The seafood gumbo dish was a bowl of tomato soup with two diminutive shrimp three gumdrop size scallops. The garlic bread I didn't even eat. Was that butter or yellow lard? The buffalo wings had no flavor and were very dry. The chicken fingers were okay but my daughter had to wait ten minutes for dipping sauce the waitress forgot to bring out in the first place. We had to go get someone to refill our drinks. The other waitress was carrying a tray as her large hair was laying on the customers food. She as a fast waitress though an seemed to take care if her customers...very friendly. The owner seemed extremely polite and courteous. Our waitress could have cared less. I tried to call the owner to inform him of our visit but I was put on hold for fifteen minutes so I gave up. The lady that took the call didn't know why j was calling either. Won't go back there again. Too many other consistent quality places to go while in St Joes. Too bad because the owner really seemed to care about his business and had passion.

We went on Thursday, so it was not crowded and we were seated immediately. We had a stack of onion rings. The best I have ever had in my whole life.. I ordered the Mess of Perch. Extremely delicious., just a light coating of something, and cooked to perfection. It was served with a yummy cheese bread and steamed broccoli [ perfectly cooked ] with a few other veggies included. The kids had chicken tenders, which they gobbled up. We also had the steak dinner, very good, too. I will definetly go back.

We really tried to like this place. I came in with my wife and two kids. We sat on the patio while we waited on our table. No problem. Nice staff outside took our drink orders and we got something to hold us over. Once we were seated inside, it was a completely different story. Worst service I've had at a restaurant in a while. The guy couldn't have been worse. It took 15 minutes to get the drinks. Tea's and water. It then took 45 minutes to get our food. It doesn't matter how good the food is. I find the food get better the faster it gets out to you. We were all ready to go and my wife asked for a to-go box. Twice. Then he came over with the check 10 minutes later and asked if we'd like the meal boxed up. Maybe a different server would give me a different experience, but I'll probably never give it a chance again.

Had dinner there on Sunday... Food was quite good. Service was okay, I think the waiter may have been new. We had a good experience. This was our second visit there in a few months. The food was very good then too, so they are consistant. Taking the family out to dinner? Don't hesitate to choose this place!

Food can be a bit pricey, but being that St. Joe is a tourist/beach town, it is 'fare' game when trying to get a good meal. Generous portions, nice decor and when the weather is nice, a great place to have a few drinks. Nice service and If you go for lunch, ask for Laurel - she is a sweetheart.

Great local selection of micro brews. I recommend the club. The atmosphere is trendy with trational floral carpeting with a splash of modern light and LCD TVs. The staff can be slow at times but seem to be friendly. I visited on a weekday and it was reasonably busy, no wait though. The club was decent. My friends had the perch and seemed to enjoy it. I would recommend this place.

Friendly staff and a wide menu. Lots of tasty seafood, the french dip is good, and the burger isn't too bad either; make sure to get the onion rings or the curly fries! A nice bar as well. Comfortable atmosphere. The onion rings are a speciality. Located on a nice stretch of the St. Joseph river with outside seating as well. Accessible by boat.

I've been to Clementine's in South Haven in the past, but just recently tried Clementine's Too in St. Joe for the first time. My boyfriend, his parents and I stopped in for a late lunch this past Sunday. Since it's not quite boating season yet, we didn't have any trouble getting a table. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We had onion rings and mushrooms for an appetizer and both were great. They're not the standard apps that you find at every chain restaurant. They actually looked like they had been battered and fried fresh . . . not frozen. Very tasty! And we were pleasantly surprised to see how many of each we got. They don't skimp on quantity or quality. We all enjoyed our meals as well. I had the burger with green olives and a side of curly fries. My boyfriend had the perch. His dad had another burger and his mom had a wrap. Everything was cooked to our expectations and was quite satisfying. I definitely ate way too much, but it was all so good. We'll definitely go back again during boating season so we can sit by the water and enjoy the weather and tasty food. The waitress also told us that they recently upgraded the interior of the restaurant - fresh paint, new decor, etc.

Love this place. We come here at least half the time we visit St. Joseph. The onion rings with the dill sauce are so good! We get the smaller size and it is good for two people. The chicken ranch sandwich is pretty good. Ive never had a problem with service, that is definitely not a consistent problem, maybe people have written reviews for new servers without realizing it is an anomaly?

I have been here a few times and have always left happy. The food is delicious. I like others would definitely recommend an appetizer of Onion Rings. The food is definitely not average chain restaurant food and I havent had anything that I didnt like.

I know..."Oh my darlin', Clementine." is the first thing I thought when I found this restaurant when googling restaurants in the South Haven area. Well, South Haven was already full when we were booking our road-trip rooms and I noticed a Clementine's sister location in St. Joseph. So, we came here instead. Why eat at a place called "Clementine's" you ask? It sounds like a bad diner straight out of the 70s. Well, while perusing their online menu, I found a menu item titled "Mess of Lake Perch" and there was a photo of a shitload of breaded perch served with cheezy garlic bread and fries! Oh, and then there's the onion rings served on a spindle, like on a vertical paper town rack that you have on your kitchen counter! And, you don't order onion rings at Clementine's as large or small, but by measurement, i.e., you can get a 6" or 12" order! So, we arrive. The restaurant is pretty basic looking as you can see from the pictures and is butt up against a marina. The Lake Perch was AWESOME! I think the best I've had to date! Juicy, thick filets as far as Lake Perch goes. I've had thin mostly breading Lake Perch all too many times at other established fish frys. Also best ever were the Onion Rings, 6" really was 8-10" of FAT/HUGE perfectly breaded rings. I love onions, am NOT a big onion ring fan (because most places aren't good at them) and well, Clementine's takes the cake in the Ring dept. Move over Moody's!

Clementine's Too has given me so many good things to say. My dish of choice is the "Lil' Tuscan Pasta." It is absolutely delicious, and just the right portion size. Their service is quick, and the wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The bartender made us some custom drinks, and they were great! We were actually greeted by the manager last Saturday, and he was genuinely excited to have us dining there. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated with a lake theme, and the entire restaurant has a view of the boats on the water. This is a good place for casual to more upscale dining -- jeans are fine, but I hear this is also a popular pre-prom dinner location. The only downside is that because this is such a great restaurant, you may encounter a fairly lengthy wait time. In my opinion, it is well worth it!

I feel like the only person on earth that isn't a fan of Clems. My friends like it, my wife likes it, my coworkers like it, other reviewers on here like it. I really want to like it... but I don't. I cringe everytime my wife wants to go there. It's like the menu was put together by AARP. Everything here (besides the Onion Rings and French Onion Soup) is bland and average. The salads are okay. The burgers are tolerable. The steaks...blah. I don't like fish so I haven't tried that yet. But I've heard good things about it. I feel like Truman on The Truman Show. Something's not adding up.

First the good: My husband had the Red Rooster (Strawberry glazed chicken breast with feta cheese) and it was very good. Fortunately, he was willing to share it with me, because I ordered the swordfish special, and it was questionable at best. Half was cooked, the other half was so raw I couldn't cut it. Better luck next time, except that there won't be a next time. Should we visit St. Joseph again, we'll probably stick with Schu's. schus.com

I'll agree that the onion rings are very good - beyond that not much worth the trip. Tried the homemade tomato soup - it was more like homemade mess. Too thick, little flavor - should have skipped. Had the house specialty of "Mess of Lake Perch." Mess is the key word here. Greasy little slivers of fish. There's much better in the area.

Kind of ruined a good thing with the remodel. All of the nautical theme is a distant memory. Seems more uptight and not as welcoming.

Pretty casual place. Sandwiches all have interesting name. Got the Oh My Darling sandwich. I was pretty good. But the corn chowder soup is just ok. Big chunk of potatoes make it more like a mean not a soup. Not much corn in it neither. I feel pretty full after the coup already.

I've been going to Clementine's both in St. Joe and So. Haven for years and what use to be a good place for perch has turned into a "not-so-good" place for lake perch for a number of years now. It is too bad that they somehow lost their way in serving up this special Great Lakes delicacy.

Just a tad off the beaten path but do not miss "Clem's" as the locals call it! Great looking nautical decor in a bright and cheery bar right on the river. Great view of boats and tvs behind the bar with various games playing. Staff was super friendly and we enjoyed the casual conversation with them. ONION RINGS....order them...PERIOD. We got 12" of them. I'd run an extra hour on the treadmill so I could eat these. I had the shrimp and crab meat with melted cheese on bread..mmmmm! Fiancee also had fish which he loved. The prices are very reasonable and the food and service was more than worth it. Clem's is smoke free which is a huge huge plus! Don't miss this St. Joseph staple...and get the rings already!

I love love love their onion rings which your order by inch. I wasn't too impressed with the rest of my meal. I ordered the Turkey Barn Dance sandwich and found that it was bland. It did not have any vegetables in it which was my biggest issue. Instead of getting fries, I got a baked potato which comes with butter and sour cream. The butter and sour cream come in little single portion size packets. The portions were large and I took home enough food for another meal. If you sit by the windows or outside you get a nice view of a small marina. My boyfriend's grandparents took us here because it's one of their go to places for food. I really wanted to like it because they like this place so much but I could have done without my sandwich because I could have made a better one at home. Also, it would have been nice if the butter/sour cream for my baked potato was served on the side in little bowls or on top because it felt like I got it from Wendy's and not a restaurant. Service was decent and it's a nice location, I just wish the food wasn't so much like food you could order from a nursing home.

Well, all I've had here are the onion rings and they are to die for. One word to the nonsmoking wise. When we were there last summer, there were a total of 4 (count 'em four) places to sit that are nonsmoking and they are surrounded by smoking places. Go figure. Why even bother.

Dined here twice in a few days of a holiday away from CAlifornia enroute to detroit. Bar food but decent salads and Perch. This neck of the woods, it's all about the perch. Walleye was great too. Our server was juggling her duties masterfully but could have used fewer tables or another set of hands.

Dined here twice in a few days of a holiday away from CAlifornia enroute to detroit. Bar food but decent salads and Perch. This neck of the woods, it's all about the perch. Walleye was great too. Our server was juggling her duties masterfully but could have used fewer tables or another set of hands.

We went for dinner on a recommendation. Had walleye and the perch. The overall experience was middle of the road. The place had it hay day years ago. All I can say is the Bloody Mary's were excellent, they even have a strip of crisp bacon as the stirrer. 5 stars for the Bloody.
